This weekend has been very productive in work on the body shell. Passenger side now looks really good with the sill in place and door nicely fitted. Rear seat deck has also been repositioned (again!) but fits much better now. I've also spent time tidying up the drivers side, cutting out the floor (door is welded in place!) and preparing for the removal of the inner rear wing as I have a full replacement panel.
I plan one more full day session with Bernard before Christmas but the plan is to have the shell completed and ready for paint preparation very early in the new year. And painting in the Spring. This gives me a shot (I think!) of getting her on the road by the summer! Maybe! Albeit as a rolling resto that will still need some work to things like the interior Trim (I have all the original interior trim which is ok condition) minus the rubber matting which will probably be replaced with the original Carpet set from my 1967 Spitfire mk3.
Whilst talking about my MK3 Spitfire I'm very pleased to mention that I've now acquired a Fibrepair/SAH fastback roof . This will complement perfectly the car as she's already fitted with SAH engine tuning equipment and will have an SAH bonnet sometime next year! Thanks to Sifra Corver for the fastback! Very appreciated!

Abandoned? Never!
Although its probably felt like it! So apologies for not posting for so long! Do I still own FC316? Is the restoration abandoned? Well yes and no. In tat yes she's still mine and no I haven't given up on the resto! Basically life just got in the way for a while. I changed job, moved house, thenchanged job again! So it's been hectic!
I've now got a little more time and a lot more spare cash so th resto moves on apace! So what's happened recently? Well a friend of mine, Bernard, and I have been cutting out the old and letting new metal into the shell. So far the passenger side has been focused on with new floor, sills, lower a post and a complete rear inner and outer wing panels! Almost all Stanpart original panels!
Today I've cut out the heel board and rear seat deck as it was really rusty and perforated and cut a replacement to fit (I cut a good panel from a scrap Spitfire 1500 as these panels didn't change in the entire 18 year production run!)
So next week this will be welded in place and hopefully the drivers side floor will be in place with the lower A post repair. With a fair wind I might be able to get all the welding/new panels in place by Spring and hen set about prepping her for painting. I'll post some photos of progress for row.
